I’ve been made aware recently by a fan of the Mini Tales told here by Mar that I haven’t written in a long while, and they were definitely correct! To give you a mini update, I’ve decided to start going to graduate school online for nursing education in the middle of a pandemic, which basically means that I am doing a lot of reading and writing, but not the fun blog kind. Plus, this has BEEN A YEAR! You guys know what I am talking about. Besides this being a year, does anyone else feel like they blinked and half of it was gone? In honor of the speedy first half of the year, I would like to tell a silly story.
My neighbors bought me flowers for my birthday.
I love flowers, and these were absolutely beautiful. I snipped the ends and placed them methodically in a vase. The colors were vibrant and the flowers seemed as though they were smiling back at me. Have you ever seen a flower smile? Perhaps it’s just me. As I was putting them in one of my favorite vases (the first vase I ever bought myself during the first few months that I lived here in NYC), Makai, my tiny, feline roommate was quite vocal. She meowed and meowed at the flowers. It seemed as though she was saying, “I need that! I need that!”
My cat has a history with greenery. If I had the choice, I would have my own garden! I’ve tried to grow a few plants (all cat friendly) and mostly, she just chews on them and plays with the dirt. If I buy a pineapple, I need to be sure to cut it up right away, or she will yell and yell for the green top. I NEED THAT! I NEED THAT!
So I brought my newly acquired flowers out into my living space. I haven’t bought flowers or a plant for the longest time because… well, see above. It was nice to have some in the space again. She followed me, relentless. She NEEDED them. I basically had to police her so that she wouldn’t knock down all of my things while trying to get to the flowers. They found a spot on my bookshelf, then my desk and then I just had to place them next to me so that I could keep an eye on the little fiend. The next time I left my apartment, I had to hide the flowers in a cabinet so that she wouldn’t get to them.
The theme of this silly story? There is none!
